Stills Production
Organising a location stills shoot, though generally less complicated than a major film production, can be just as demanding, and the cost of mistakes can be very high. The discipline is the same and attention to detail absolutely vital.
Location X Location Managers have many years experience dealing with all aspects of stills production and have developed a nose for likely problems which allows them to intervene before they become critical. We usually know for example, when to ‘wing it’ and when full permissions must be sought.
The Stills Producer organises not just the locations, but the budget, the schedule and all of the logistics vital to a successful shoot: Flights, accommodation, ground transportation, car transport, props, models etc, as well as handling the cash day-to-day. We usually use local specialists for casting.
If appropriate, we also produce a comprehensive Call Sheet for everyone involved, ensuring that all the crew know exactly what will happen, in which location, in which order and when. We usually provide detailed directions from base, or hotel to location and between locations.
In short, we can either simply find and manage the location, or produce the whole shoot for the photographer or agent. Either way, we hope to relieve them of the maximum possible administrative headaches and leave them to get on with what they are good at.
